A New Course

Feb 15 2011

Greetings Blogosphere!

As many of you know, I have been working on a new course for Berkleemusic during recent months.  I’m happy to say that the course is up and running!  The course is titled Music Composition for Film and Television.  I’m very excited about it.  It’s a topic that is very personal to me, and we were able to incorporate a lot of great film music as part of the course.  If you are curious about it, the course summary is available here.

Of course, while writing the course, I haven’t been blogging as much as I would prefer.  But I’m here to say…I’m here!  And you can expect more regular blogs going forward.  Starting tomorrow–with a post on “Petrushka’s Companion Chord”.

Thanks for reading everyone!

And the new course is FANTASTIC so far!

I’ll be taking it in a couple of terms!!!

Wow Ben! This sounds right around my block! I’m so glad you have such a course up and running, you can see me there as soon as I finish the ones I’m currently enrolled in!

    Best Regards!

Looking over the summary, this seems to fit nicely into the Film Scoring 101 course I finished this past winter. I especially like the “portfolio” idea, as well as the emphasis on evoking specific emotions through the use of specific musical elements (rhythms, harmonies, etc.). You must have enjoyed researching this material!
    Looking forward to this course.
